It all started in 2001 when a group of friends hosted an open day at a private home in Port Elizabeth. Their purpose was to create an affordable and accessible platform to showcase their handmade wares.
Since then, this annual gift and craft market has overflowed into a church hall, a five-star hotel and, most recently, a shopping centre’s underground parking – the only space large enough to accommodate the 4000m² required for Christmas in the Home.
In early 2020, when the global COVID-19 pandemic struck, we realised the need to think differently and move our real-world markets into the digital space.
Today, our objective remains unchanged: to create an affordable platform for South African artisans and crafters, who do not have their own stores, to sell their uniquely exquisite products.
Our in-person pop-up markets will always provide the original, full-colour, true-blue experience. But until you can enjoy it first-hand, feel free to browse and shop the very best in authentic local design – from the comfort of home. Just like that very first open day.
